Professor Yoshizaki has spent decades at the forefront of Japan’s security policy and research\, having served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Special Fellow for Policy Simulation at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS)\, Ministry of Defense. \n*Session Highlights\nThis session goes beyond a standard lecture.  We will dive deep into the current global security landscape through the lens of three critical regions – Ukraine\, Israel\, and Iran – to understand their implications for Japan. \nThe second half of the session will feature a high-stakes “Policy Simulation.” \n“Never Say Never.”\nThis is the mantra Professor Yoshizaki uses to kick off his simulations. In an unpredictable world\, how do you analyze risks\, formulate policy\, and negotiate effectively in English? \nIn this interactive workshop\, participants will take on the roles of five global actors to tackle the crisis in Iran. From 2023 to 2026\, served as a Specially Appointed Professor at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Director of the TUFS Center for Area Studies (TASC). After stepping down from the university in the spring of 2026\, he continues to teach the “Peace Building and Conflict Prevention” course at JV-Campus. \nAfter completing his master’s degree at Keio University Graduate School in 1987\, he served at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) of the Ministry of Defense until 2023\, holding positions including Vice President for Academic Affairs\, Director of Policy Simulation\, and Director of the Security Studies Department\, where he was responsible for research\, education\, and strategic dialogue.
